History

Peony, or Belle, as her friends (and not friends) tend to call her, was found a baby, an orphan at that, abandoned on the outskirts of the Rak'tika Greatwood, near the entrance to Il Mheg. The local pixies could not allow a baby to be lost to the dangers of the forest, and so they took the young bun in. They named her Peony, after the pink hue of her soft hair, and Belle, because of her natural beauty.Belle was raised as any other pixie child; she learned magic, history, the fae languages, and yes, pranks. Oh, Belle loved to play small tricks on those in the local villages! Teachers and wise ones in the village saw early on her gift for divination, visions, and potions, and instructed her in these magicks. Fae from around the realm came to seek her guidance and remedies, making her the envy of some of her elders (and, unfortunately, the target of many pranks). However, it was all in good fun; her childhood was filled with happiness, and she was beloved by all who knew her.As Belle grew older, she began to realize she was not like the other pixies in her village. She was taller and stronger that other fae youth, her wings were rather different (as they were gifted by the elders, not naturally grown), as were her terribly large... ears. Why were hers the only ones that were furry? There were other fae races, such as the Nu Mou and the Fuath; but she looked nothing like them at all. The older and taller she grew, the more her curiosity (and even concern) grew. How would she ever find a mate, find love, in a realm filled with these eternal beings as she began to realize... she was not one of them.When she came of age, the elders of the village explained her origins and how she came to dwell amongst the Pixies. However, she was now a young woman, and the time had come for her to go on a journey in search of her own kind. She deserved a life full of love, but such a life would not be found in the meadows of Il Mheg.To guide her in her travels, the pixie elders bestowed upon Belle two most precious gifts. The first was the ability to travel to different stars. As the elders began to explain, the stars themselves began to light up on her skin, creating a map of the heavens. To travel to a star, all she need do is touch the star she desired, and she would be transported. However, if that star were to vanish (as stars sometimes do), then it would likewise vanish from her skin, and she may vanish with it. This was her warning: beware fading stars, seek stars filled with light.The second gift was handed to her by the very elders who discovered her in the forest two decades before. It was a necklace of crystals harvested from the realm, the very bottom of the lake. A faint glow shone from the largest crystal pendant as it was handed to her. Since her youth, she had been well-known for her visions; however, the task of traveling with a crystal ball would be rather daunting. So, the heavens would open to her by the mere touch of this crystal pendant.This gift, too, came with a warning: were she to be parted from this pendant, or were it to be destroyed, so her vision (of ALL kinds) would be destroyed, rendering her blind to all things, material and immaterial.She thanked the elders for the precious gifts and words of wisdom and returned home. She gathered the belongings that could fit in her (deceptively large) bag, making sure her necklace was firmly attached around her dainty neck. Then she closed her eyes and held the pendant, allowing it to guide her to her first star...Belle traveled for countless years. After 20 turns about the sun, she had lost count of the stars she had visited. Every trip she had deemed a failure; not a single star contained a creature like herself, nor did a single star seem to provide opportunities for real love.In her travels, Belle was never alone. Her pendant directed her to "guides" on every star; sometimes only one, sometimes many. Men, women, and children, she had been guided by all. The children adored Belle as she would teach them pixie games, and they would teach her the traditions of the star; this usually included food, drink, dancing, and games, all of which Belle adored. The men and women seemed to have other interests; some would put Belle to work, others had more carnal desires. Some even told her those activities were called "love," but she never believed them. If it was love, then why was it so easy... to walk away?After many years, Belle's crystal shone like never before over a specific star. For many years, this star had been dull, but somehow it was brighter now. Strange, she thought. She had never seen a dull star brighten before; her curiosity pulled her right there. She found herself in the hustle and bustle of a desert city, coughing. She had never heard this tongue, never seen these faces, until she spotted a pair of - her OWN ears!

Peony, or Belle, as her friends call her, is the life of the party. She loves to have a good time! Inviting her to join any celebration, large or small, will delight her.
Belle adores music. She will be charmed by anyone (or any item) that plays music. It may even send her into a trance at times. Belle is also trained in most musical instruments and has a most enchanting voice.
As Belle was raised by the pixies of Il Mheg, she is very familiar with many elements of mysticism. Diviniation, light healing, and aura cleansing are just some of her skills. She claims to be able to enchant objects, like her pixie friends; however, this is not always met with success.
Belle has traveled to several shards and is unaware that Eorzeans do not share the same ability or travel experience. Conversely, she is new to this shard and its culture. She may find customs, language, traditions, even food and drink, strange.
Raised the only viera in a realm of pixies, Belle is very inexperienced in the world of romance. She is familiar with the ways of pleasing men and women, but has never experienced true love. It is for this reason that she has left her home in Il Mheg.
